WHFB: Dark Elf Assassins

As all Dark Elf players know, and indeed their opponents know, it’s always fun guessing which Dark Elf infantry units have some hidden helpers in them. Having been playing for a long time, I’ve acquired a fair number of Assassins.

On one occasion one of the Byakhees was starting to pick out troops for me whilst I sorted something else out:

R: Damn, just realised these are all Assassins !
A: I thought you were picking out his unit of Shades ?
R; So did I…who needs this many Assassins ?
R: Hang on, this box is labelled “Characters”. Who needs a big box just for Characters ?

The previous range of metal figures was quite useful because they came in several poses with different right arms:

Without hoods:

The character Shadowblade and another variant:

The latest round:

Including one that had a bit of flash at the tip of his dagger, painted bright green to represent poison:

And Aenur The Sword of Twilight (from Mordheim), painted as a Dark Elf:

Wonderful figures as you can see, and I’ve painted them to fit in with my army.

Despite their awesome stat profile, they do have a very poor reputation. Even I don’t think they’re that good and make disparaging remarks about cr@p fighters have been to “The School of Dark Elf Assassins” and being armed with rubber swords and harsh language.

Gorman: Apone! Look… we can’t have any firing in there. I, uh… I want you to collect magazines from everybody.
Hudson: Is he f*ckin’ crazy?
Frost: What the hell are we supposed to use man? Harsh language?
